Knitting of socks is not at all the lot of grandmothers; all women who want to please loved ones with warm woolen socks come face to face with this. When creating socks, the main difficulties you may encounter are knitting the heel and closing the sock. There are several ways to close the loops on the socks.

Step 1
If you are knitting a sock, starting from the elastic, and knitting a foot of the desired length (in a circle), begin to round the end. To do this, find the middle of the foot, trace it from the heel, divide the number of loops by 4 and count the resulting number in both directions from the resulting middle (it does not matter on which knitting needles the loops will be located). You have received the right and left edges of the sock, mark them with colored thread.
Step 2
Continue knitting in a circle, but when you get to the color mark, knit two stitches together before it and two stitches together after it. In this way, knit until you have 4 or 5 stitches left. Cut off the thread, leaving a few centimeters, and thread it through the remaining loops. Tighten, tie, and hide the tip on the wrong side of the sock.
Step 3
Knowing the basic method of closing the toe stitches, adjust the shape to your liking. For example, first cut 2 loops per row (one on the left, the other on the right), and after a few rows start cutting 4 loops - then you will get a smoother transition. Or leave one or two loops intact inside the loops to be cut (where the colored thread is) so that they go through the entire cape; in this case, you will get a more rounded toe. Most often, baby socks or booties are knitted this way.
Step 4
If you are knitting a sock, ending with an elastic band and it turned out to be a problem for you to close the elastic so that the product stretches well, proceed as follows. Take the hook and insert it into the first loop, then pull the loop from the second loop and from the two loops obtained, knit a single crochet. Continue knitting like this until all the loops are closed. This method allows you to get an elastic and neat edge.
Step 5
Try to close the elastic of the sock with a needle. To do this, insert the needle with the main knit thread into the next purl loop and at the same time into the front loop removed from the knitting needle. Without removing, add to these loops the next front loop, which is still on the knitting needle. Then go back, insert the needle into the previous purl loop, together with the next knit stitch, remove from the knitting needle. Remember: the main thing here is that the thread does not go straight for you, but in a zigzag, constantly returning back, and at the same time captures all the loops.
