The earth gives birth to different people. Some are called strange. Not all of them certainly deserve attention, but there are those among extraordinary people who, thanks to their strangeness, have achieved popularity. One of them will be discussed below.
Strange Al Jankovic is a famous parodist and musician in America, whose works are undoubtedly an adornment of American culture.
Childhood
Strange Al Yankovic (in English transcription Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic) was born in 1959 in Downey, California, United States of America.
His father, Nick Jankovic, a Serb by birth, often liked to repeat that the main thing in life is to do what he loves. This truth was well learned by his beloved only son.
El's mother, Maria Vivalda, an American of Italian descent, echoed her husband in everything and always supported her son, who was born only after ten years of marriage. Parents did not even think that their long-awaited son turned out to be strange. However, strangeness is a relative concept.
Education
Al was sent to school two years earlier than his peers, the boy studied well and was immediately called a nerd by his classmates. However, El was not very interested in studying, he was more interested in the social life of the school.
At the age of seven, Al was sent to learn to play the accordion. The boy quickly mastered this musical instrument. He tried to imitate his idol and namesake Frankie Jankovic, the famous accordionist.
But more than the boy's music was attracted by the parody, he did not miss a single humorous program on television. Al admitted later that as a child he adored "amazingly sick and overwhelmed artists", whom he listened to on television and radio.
Formation of a musical style
After graduating, Al wondered what he would like to do? Since Al had been a fan of the Dr. Demento Show radio program since childhood, he gave Mr. Demento some of his tapes to listen to. This is how the career of the famous parodist began.
Later, Al's works were successfully broadcast on the MTV channel, took the first lines of the charts and were nominated for a Grammy Award.
Image
The artist's appearance is an important part of his popularity. Curly hair, shirts of unthinkable colors and a soulful face with a spark of madness in his eyes. The image of this artist remains in the memory for a long time.
The reaction of musicians to the work of Jankovic
When recording parodies, L usually asks the musicians for permission. Those happily (well, some reluctantly) agree, since Yankovic's parody is considered a prestigious phenomenon and raises the musician's rating.
But there are also cases of fatal offense. Al himself believes that only a short-sighted person can be offended by his work. After all, his parodies are never evil. He brings light and goodness to this world, albeit in such a peculiar way.
