Crocheting is a pleasant and interesting activity that gives an outlet to creativity. The result is a practical thing that can please you or your loved ones. But the product turns out to be beautiful, and knitting is a pleasure only if you have chosen the right tool and material. If the hook is too thick, the fabric will be loose and uneven. Knitting with a very thin crochet requires a lot of hand stress.

Instructions
Step 1
For crocheting, it is better to choose well-spun threads. It can be wool, cotton, silk or artificial yarn. Loose artificial thread, which disintegrates at the slightest touch, is not suitable. If you are just going to buy a crochet hook, take a yarn sample with you.
Step 2
Hooks can be metal, plastic, wood or bone. Most often, there are metal and plastic on sale. Tunisian knitting requires a long hook or line. For regular tight or openwork knitting, a hook is used with a length of 12 to 15 cm.
Step 3
Only very soft, thick woolen or artificial yarn can be crocheted with a wooden crochet. For stiff cotton or silk threads, take a metal hook, in this case the tree breaks very quickly. Plastic tools for tough beaches are also not very suitable.
Step 4
Most of the hooks you find in the store have a number written on it. Sometimes it is delivered on the flat part of the tool. If there is no such plate, then the numbers can be written on the blunt end or in the middle. The higher the number, the thicker the hook. No. 1 means that the head has a diameter of 1 mm, No. 2 - respectively, 2 mm, etc. There are also fractional numbers - 0, 75 or 1, 5. Metal hooks usually strictly comply with the standard. This cannot be said about plastic ones. The diameter can be very different from what is written on the label, so you have to choose by eye.
Step 5
The diameter of the hook should be 1.5-2 times the thickness of the threads. Many grades of imported yarn now usually include the tool number on the labels. Some domestic manufacturers also do this. But this indication makes sense only if the density of your knitting corresponds to the average. Therefore, it is better to stock up on hooks of several sizes in advance and try to knit samples from yarn of different thicknesses with them.
