An unusual, bright brownie costume will become an original outfit for a fancy-dress party, ideal for theatrical performances or children's matinees. The costume, made based on the famous cartoon about the brownie Kuzyu, will certainly attract attention and create a festive atmosphere.
Three characteristic details make the brownie costume from the popular animated film recognizable and effective: a bright long shirt, disheveled hair and bast shoes. You can make all the elements of the costume from scrap materials.
Brownie shirt
For sewing a shirt, a bright fabric with a simple pattern is best suited: for example, reddish-red to white large peas. The fabric is cut on the basis of a rectangle built according to individual measurements: its width is equal to the measurements of the width of the chest with the addition of 8-12 cm for a free fit, the length of the panel is determined independently, depending on the desired length of the future shirt. If you wish, you can cut out two small wedges that will be sewn into the sides of the shirt and give it some volume typical for old clothes.
The sleeves are cut out of two rectangular fabric cuts of the required length, taking into account the seam allowances. The edges of the sleeves can be left untreated, with deliberately protruding threads, or you can hem the hem and thread a soft elastic band into the resulting seam.
The neck of the shirt is decorated either with a rectangular small cut, which is subsequently rounded with the help of small folds, or with the help of a semicircular cut, decorated with a low stand with a large sewn-on button and an overhead strip in the Russian style. As the finishing touches for the design of the shirt, you can sew on it a few carelessly made patches of fabric of contrasting colors and textures.
Hairstyle
To create a characteristic tousled brownie hairstyle, an old unnecessary wig is suitable, the length of which is adjusted to the desired size, with the help of a comb, the effect of tangled hair is created. The hairstyle is fixed with varnish or other styling products for long-term exposure.
If there is no ready-made wig at hand, then it can be made from bright yellow or straw yarn. A knitted cap or bandana in neutral shades is used as a base for the wig.
