Traveling on a boat will become much more comfortable after it is equipped with a waterproof awning. You can make an awning yourself, it is only important that it can be easily removed and folded if necessary and be safe.

It is necessary

  • - clamshell;
  • - aluminum tubes;
  • - fasteners;
  • - metal corners;
  • - hooks;
  • - fastening rings;
  • - waterproof fabric;
  • - nylon cord.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a folding bed, it is best to choose such a model so that its width and length correspond to the dimensions of the boat. If necessary, you can increase the width and length of the frame by extending them with aluminum tubes of the appropriate diameter (it is convenient for this to use the straight sections of the clamshell legs).

Step 2

To prevent the awning from accumulating water during rain and debris, leave one of the legs and bend up at the desired angle. You can fix the corner with metal corners and self-tapping screws.

Step 3

Connect the tubes with a telescopic method. At both ends, make two longitudinal cuts of 3-4 cm. Squeeze one of the ends, and, on the contrary, expand the other - as a result, the narrow tube will go into the wide one, you get a simple and reliable connection.

Step 4

Install the folding bed upside down, that is, that part of it, which is located in the center of the berth, will be attached to the boat. Raise the sides as high as required for a comfortable stay on the boat. To fix them, screw the braces from a strong nylon cord on four sides.

Step 5

To attach the awning frame to a wooden boat, you will need metal corners and self-tapping screws. Fix one end of the brace on the tube, and tie a hook to the other - it will catch on the ring on the side of the boat. Due to the fact that the hooks can be easily unhooked, and the pipes connected by a telescopic method can be disconnected, such a frame can be easily and quickly disassembled.

Step 6

For a canopy, use any waterproof fabric, it can be tarpaulin, raincoat, plastic wrap or other material. It is most convenient to measure the frame, then sew the cover and secure it with elastic bands in several places.

Step 7

For complete protection from wind and rain, make a continuous awning, with side and rear curtains. If, at the same time, the adjacent curtains are connected with lightning, the boat's crew and cargo will be almost completely safe. In sunny weather, it will be enough to throw the curtains on the roof or fix it on the sides.
