The classic fishing tackle includes a sinker, the weight of which determines the casting distance. The lead can vary in shape and weight. At the same time, it should not cling to stones, grass and fix the bait at the bottom or at a given depth. It already depends on the chosen fishing method. When fishing on overgrown with grass, with a rocky bottom, loads are often cut off. In fact, they are consumables for fishing tackle. Therefore, fishermen should always have a supply of weights with them. Any sinker in shape and weight can be prepared at home yourself.

It is necessary

  • - building gypsum;
  • - metal strip;
  • - lead;
  • - file;
  • - plexiglass;
  • - soap.

Instructions

Step 1

To cast the sinker, take a metal tape 1, 5-2 cm wide and make a box out of it without a bottom in the form of two L-shaped halves. Connect the halves with small screws. It turned out to be a mold.

Step 2

It is best to place the future sinker mold on a flat surface. To do this, take a small sheet of plexiglass or other material with a smooth surface. Moisten the previously obtained base with soapy water.

Step 3

The material for filling the mold will be plaster of paris, which is sold in hardware and hardware stores. Take any plastic container and knead the plaster solution to fill the mold. This must be done very quickly, given that the gypsum hardens quickly. After bringing the solution to the thickness of the sour cream with a spatula, fill out the form.

Step 4

Take a sample lead and wet with soapy water. Then dip it halfway through the still soft plaster. Wait for it to freeze.

Step 5

After unscrewing the screws, remove the metal frame. Wipe the top of the sinker with a soap solution.

Step 6

Cover the metal frame with soapy water again and fill with plaster of paris solution.

Step 7

Take the first hardened plaster mold, flip it over to the second, not yet hardened plaster half mold. Press down firmly on the visible part of the lead. Wait for the plaster to harden.

Step 8

Take the first hardened plaster mold, flip it over to the second, not yet hardened plaster half mold. Press down firmly on the visible part of the lead. Wait for the plaster to harden.

Step 9

Use a file and a knife to make a tapered lead-in hole and a vent hole.

Step 10

Dry the forms on the battery within 3 days.

Step 11

After melting the lead, pour the sinkers, having previously connected the plaster molds with a clamp. It is important that the lead blank cools down on its own. Never cool the lead with water. When smelting lead weights, be extremely careful not to burn yourself. Cast the sinker in a well-ventilated area, preferably in the air.

Happy fishing!
