With the development of IT technology, the use of local networks has become more popular. They can be used for work purposes, and can be used for entertainment, for example, to play in the "Multiplayer" mode. At the same time, you do not need to connect to the Internet and consume traffic.
It is necessary
- - hub;
- - fiber optic cable;
- - LAN card;
Instructions
Step 1
Determine how many personal computers will be connected to a local network. Measure the distance to each. Select the central computer. Purchase a "hub", the required footage of fiber-optic cable and network cards if you do not have built-in ones. Crimp the ends of the cable at a specialist store to avoid any loss of connection quality in the future.
Step 2
Unscrew the side wall of the processor unit. Install the network card into the bottom "slot" of the motherboard. Connect the "power cable" from the processor. Screw the wall back on. Download the "fresh" version of the driver from the manufacturer's website. Install this driver using the Add New Hardware Manager. Restart your Windows operating system for all changes and updates to take effect.
Step 3
Place the "hub" next to the central computer and connect it to a 220V power source. Connect the ends of the cable to the free ports of the "hub". Install the other ends into the "socket" of the network card of each personal computer. A green light should come on to indicate correct operation.
Step 4
Left-click on the "My Computer" shortcut. In the left part of the dialog box, click on the "Control Panel" link. In the window that appears, open "Network Connections". Go to the properties "Local Area Connection". Click the TCP / IP tab. Specify consecutive IP addresses from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0. X, where X is the final number of computers. Enter the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Open a command prompt. In the dialog box that appears, enter the following command: ping 192.168.0.1-t. If the line "Reply from …" goes, then the local network connection is established correctly.
Step 5
Left-click on the game's shortcut to launch it. In the game menu, select the game mode "Multiplayer" or "LAN game". From the computer that will be the server, click "Host". When the name of the first computer appears in the “Servers” list, click “connect” from the rest of the PCs. The LAN game will start.
