The artists depicting the sea are called marine painters. If you also want to try yourself in this role, try painting a simple watercolor landscape.
It is necessary
- - A3 sheet of watercolor paper;
- - watercolor paints;
- - two brushes - thick and thin;
- - solid simple pencil;
- - the tablet;
- - masking tape;
- - white wax crayon.
Instructions
Step 1
Explore the "anatomy" of sea waves. View ready-made paintings with seascapes, study photographs. You have to imagine what lines the waves have, how they can and how they cannot go, what the sea crests look like, etc. Only then can you get a realistic seascape.
Step 2
Use masking tape to glue a sheet of A3 watercolor paper to your tablet. In this case, after you finish your work, you will get a neat white frame around the drawing.
Step 3
Divide the leaf into two halves with the horizon line. Mark the places where the crests of the waves will be. Use a hard, simple pencil and draw very light, almost imperceptible lines. If you are confident in your paint skills, you can do without sketching.
Step 4
Take a white wax pencil, grind off the tip with a knife. With a pencil, draw in the areas where the sea foam will be located - they should eventually remain white.
Step 5
Start applying paint. Draw a light blue line along the horizon and blur it downwards. On the palette, mix light blue and a drop of black. Apply the resulting color just below the first one, also blur it. Draw a jagged line even lower in saturated blue. Accentuate the waves in the background with a sheer purple tint. Draw another wave in front. Accentuate the crests of the waves with black.
Step 6
Draw the sky. Apply yellow uneven spots to the wetted paper. Add purple and red spots around the yellow in the same way. It will be sunlight shining through the clouds. Paint the rest of the sky with blue and gray colors, remembering to blur them.
Step 7
Add some more elements if you like. For example, flying seagulls.
Wait for the drawing to dry. Remove the tape.
