The dream of holding a book in your hands, the author of which is one person, is quite realizable. And it's not only about the case when you write a story on beautiful paper, and then illustrate it yourself, make a single copy for binding and sell or give to a good person. Today it is possible for everyone to publish their own book.
Instructions
Step 1
It is important to understand two fundamentally different points. The book can be published at the expense of the publisher or you can pay for the circulation yourself (publish for the sponsor's money).
Step 2
In the case of the paper version, the publisher will only invest in you when it is sure that there is a prospect to sell it after the book is published. If you've already successfully graduated, this shouldn't be a problem. If this is your first time publishing, you must have talent. And also there must be a person who can appreciate it. You just have to choose the publisher that you like or that will believe in you.
Step 3
The modern development of technology offers the author an additional chance in publishing - this is the release of an e-book. On this issue, the position of publishers is different, but the essence is as follows. You should have a finished printed product. Publishers of this type have a list of topics on their website that you can tackle. You can offer your own topic, but it is necessary that it be of practical importance for the future reader. For example, "How to plunge into an ice-hole in Epiphany" or "How to assemble a tractor."
Step 4
Create a book. It must be complete, competently and interestingly written, otherwise they will refuse to publish it. Register on the website of the e-book publisher and send them an application. If they agree to publish the book, you usually don't have to pay for the print run. All that remains is to wait for the fees (do not forget to draw up a contract!)
Step 5
If you are not a professional author and do not intend to make a living by publishing books, you can always publish it at your expense in the usual paper way, even with a circulation of 1 copy.
Step 6
Decide on your book release goals and your budget. Their integration will help you to set the necessary parameters for printing a book. The parameters include: format and circulation (number of copies) of the book, as well as the method, quality and color of printing (offset printing or risography).
Step 7
Write the text of the book in the editor Word (or give the manuscript to have it done for you). Then you can give the book for review to a proofreader, editor, and also order illustrations (this depends on the goals of the publication and your budget). Then the layout designer takes over, who places the text and illustrations in a special computer program and transfers the file to the printing house for printing.
