When knitting, you can achieve a variety of patterns by combining different types of loops, adding or reducing their number. There are several ways to decrease or increase the number of stitches in knitting. And one of them is a simple broach.

It is necessary

  • - yarn (it is better not to take very smooth threads for broaching);
  • - working knitting needles.

Instructions

Step 1

First, understand the terminology of the word "broach". It so happened that in knitting, two completely different concepts got the same name. This word can mean part of a loop, more precisely, a thread between two loops on the right and left knitting needles. This broach can be used when knitting to add loops. To do this, grab it with the left knitting needle and pull it with a movement away from you. Then, with the right knitting needle, grab the loop formed by the back wall and pull the working thread to the right side of knitting. You now have an extra loop on the right needle.

Step 2

If by broaching you mean a way of decreasing the loops, then keep in mind that they can be simple, double and even triple. Two-loop broaching (simple broaching) is carried out as follows. Knit one stitch and put it back on the left knitting needle. Insert the right knitting needle from the front of the knitting into the second loop, grab and pull the first through it. As a result, you have a second loop, which you will not knit in the next row, is tilted to the right. It turned out to be a simple broach.

Step 3

To make the loop tilt to the left after knitting, insert the right knitting needle through two loops and pull the working thread through them to the right side of the fabric. You now have two stitches knitted together.
