Some floriculture lovers can't wait for the guest who gave them a bouquet of roses to leave in order to turn the beautiful flowers into cuttings for further cultivation. We are such women, transitory beauty oppresses us, and long-lasting beauty inspires. It is a pity only to grow roses from these cuttings will not be easy.
Instructions
Step 1
Flowers that make up the assortment of flower shops are treated with chemical reagents for better preservation. It is difficult to obtain viable cuttings from such flowers. More chances to root a stalk just cut from a bush in a special nursery greenhouse or at least from a neighbor in the garden.
Step 2
For the cutting, select a section of the stem 10-15 cm long, on which three fairly developed buds are present. The bottom cut is made directly under the bud, or 1/3 of the distance to the next bud below the stem. The upper cut is made 2-3 mm above the upper kidney. The slices themselves should be oblique and have an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
Step 3
If you do not have a special pruner at hand, you can use a pocket knife as a cutting tool - it is thin and sharp as a razor. It is better not to use scissors. In addition to cutting, they also squeeze the cutting, damaging it. To prevent rotting of the leaves located at the bottom of the cuttings, they are removed, and the large upper leaves are cut in half so that they evaporate less moisture.
Step 4
The upper cut is cauterized with potassium permanganate or brilliant green. A freshly cut stalk is placed in a growth stimulator with a lower cut for a few seconds. This treatment will help the rooting process and also contribute to the development of a more powerful root system. The flower shops offer a wide range of growth stimulants: beta-indolyl butyric acid, alma-naphthylacetic acid, heteroauxin and others. However, you can also use a proven home remedy - aloe juice. Aloe juice is obtained from an adult plant over 3 years old. They stop watering the plant and after a week, several leaves are cut off from it. The leaves are kept in the refrigerator for two weeks. After that, the juice is squeezed out of the leaves. A rose stalk is placed in such a natural growth stimulant for 10-12 hours.
