Yucca is a very beautiful and rather unpretentious houseplant. She is not capricious, calmly tolerates the sun, shade and dry air of city apartments. To maintain good health, yucca needs moderate watering, periodic feeding, and, if necessary, the correct transplant.

Step 1
The best time to transplant a yucca is spring and early summer. At this time, the plant is actively moving into growth and transferring to another container is much easier. During the dormant period, which falls on the winter, it is better not to touch the yucca.
Step 2
Prepare a suitable pot. This can be a clay or ceramic flowerpot, or a plastic planter. Yucca is not too demanding on the container in which she has to grow - it is much more important to observe the regime of watering and feeding.
Step 3
A ready-made universal soil is suitable as a land mixture. If you want to prepare the soil yourself, mix equal proportions of garden soil with peat and add coarse sand to the mixture. The soil for yucca should be neutral and light enough - the plant does not tolerate waterlogging.
Step 4
Pour a layer of expanded clay, river pebbles or broken brick on the bottom of the pot. Lay a layer of earthen mixture on top. Remove the plant carefully from the pot, being careful not to damage the earthy ball.
Step 5
Examine the yucca roots. If a clod of earth is evenly braided with white roots, everything is in order. But if some of the roots are dark and give off an unpleasant rotten smell, they will have to be removed. Cut off the affected roots with a knife.
Step 6
Place the plant in a pot and pour the prepared substrate into the gaps between the earthen ball and the sides of the container. Use your fingers or the handle of a spatula to tamp the ground.
Step 7
The transplanted plant must be watered with settled water at room temperature. Remember that yucca does not tolerate excessive moisture well - its roots begin to rot. An adult plant needs two liters of water per ten liters of soil. In summer, watering can be increased.
Step 8
If your plant is not branching, stimulating pruning can be done when transplanting. Using a sharp knife, cut off the top so that as many leaves as possible remain on the remaining trunk. Sprinkle the cut with crushed charcoal. After a while, the yucca will start throwing out side shoots. The remaining top can be rooted and planted in a separate pot.
