When choosing plants for the garden, you can stop your gaze on tree-like peonies. Several varieties of this plant, blooming at different times, are able to decorate the garden throughout the summer season. In addition, peonies are undemanding to care for, do not require frequent division, they need to be transplanted only if necessary, with weak flowering. If there is a need for a transplant, it is advisable to take this procedure responsibly.

Peonies are unpretentious, they do not suffer from diseases and pests, they are able to grow well and bloom luxuriantly in one place for several decades.

It is better to transplant peonies in late summer and early autumn, when the plants begin to actively grow new roots, so that rooting of the separated rhizomes is easier. You can transplant peony bushes in early spring, but this period is less preferable, since the plants take root less well and require more attention during this period. Before transplanting, the peony must be carefully dug out of the soil. To do this, you must first cut off the foliage and dig in the bush from all sides. It is better to divide old bushes together - with the help of a crowbar or pitchfork, you need to try to loosen it in the soil, trying to minimize damage, and then slowly remove it from the ground. Before dividing, the roots must be rinsed with running water from a hose and dried.

A place for transplanting peonies must be prepared in advance - for this, you should choose a sunny area protected from cold northerly winds with a low groundwater table. Peonies prefer slightly acidic or neutral fertilized soil, but they can also grow on loamy soil if you regularly apply fertilizer under the bushes. The flower bed must first be cleared of weeds, dig up and apply mineral and organic fertilizer. The planting pit should be at least 60 x 60 cm, it should be prepared in advance: pour compost and humus, fertile soil on the bottom. Add a handful of bone meal, wood ash, 20 g of superphosphate, ferrous sulfate, mix everything well, pour garden soil on top. Before planting, the pit should be spilled abundantly with water (2-3 buckets).

When planting, it is important not to deepen the root collar - in this case, the peony does not bloom well.

Peony rhizomes need to be divided, trying to leave 3-5 buds on each division. For dividing, a sharp knife should be used, which must be ignited over a fire for disinfection. The cuts on the rhizome should be sprinkled with wood ash and dried for 2-3 hours. The delenka must be carefully placed in the pit, sprinkled with earth and watered. If the root collar went underground during planting, you need to slightly pull it up, water it again and compact the earth around the roots. Mulch the soil surface with humus or peat.

After transplanting, the peony blooms for 2-3 years, and if the peduncles appeared in the first year, you need to cut them off in time so as not to weaken the plant. A transplanted peony needs regular watering and feeding, but waterlogging can cause root rot. If the transplant was carried out correctly, in compliance with the rules of agricultural technology, the tree-like peony will decorate the garden for many years and amaze the owners and their guests with its beauty.
