1. Strong cooling of roots and temperature drops, drafts. At low temperatures and flooded soil, root rot begins. Some of the roots die, and in order to restore the balance between the underground and aboveground parts, the plant sheds the lower leaves. Green leaves curl and turn yellow, then fall off.

2. Watering. The flower belongs to the milky group of plants that have milk in their tissues. It is necessary to water such plants as the upper soil layer dries up with water at a settled and room temperature. When keeping poinsettia in hot conditions, you will have to water more often. The wilted lower leaves will tell you about this. If the soil in the pot is very dry, then the flower can also shed the lower leaves.
3. Lighting. All flowering plants need light, and poinsettia is no exception. With a lack of light, the poinsettia will wither and turn yellow, leading to loss of leaves.
4. Damage by a spider mite when the flower is kept in hot, dry conditions leads to the drying of the leaf plates and their falling off. In this case, the poinsettia needs spraying the leaves with soft water. Additional treatments for sucking pests may be required.
