It can be a shame when there is a product with a zipper, but there is no dog (slider) on it. The dog can jump off the rail, get lost, or be broken. Very often, a product with a zipper without a dog is carried in the atelier. The master sews a new one in its place, or changes it to an old dog. Let's try to figure out how you can replace the dog at home.
It is necessary
Pliers, a new or native dog, threads, a needle
Instructions
Step 1
If the zipper is detachable and the pawl just came off and remained in your hand, insert it from above onto the side where the detachable stopper with a socket is located. The slider should go flat side down. The dog will slide easily over the links.
Step 2
If the dog is lost or broken during use, get a new slider. The salesperson can help you with this. He will select the appropriate zipper number by the zipper. If the zipper is all-in-one or is sold by the meter, purchase as many sliders as you need. For example, cases often have two sliders sliding towards each other.
Step 3
Take a close look at the side of the tape where the slider was inserted. On top of the rail, the limiter most likely slipped off. It keeps the dog in the top position. If the stop has moved, adjust it with the pliers so that the dog does not pop out again. If the stopper is lost, bartack with a needle and thread. Bartack over the edge of the tape several times. It will not let the slider jump off again.
Step 4
In the case of a one-piece zipper, separate the ends of the rails slightly and insert each into the pawl. Gently slide down the slider. He will walk with effort. Do not overdo it with the pressure so as not to damage the rails. If the slider does not want to move despite the efforts, slightly bend the slots on the pawl (where the rails are inserted). Slide the dog down and press the slots with pliers to their original state.
