Many people like to draw. But not everyone is good at it. For example, it is not so easy to learn how to draw complex materials, in particular metal. There are several secrets that allow you to paint metal objects with gouache and watercolors.

Instructions

Step 1

Metal is one of the most difficult textures to sketch, and you need to master many artistic features before you start drawing this material. First of all, take a close look at the metal object. Notice how it reflects the light.

Step 2

Modern palettes of gouache and watercolors contain paint similar to silver. Sometimes it is prepared with the finest silver glitter, which allows it to shine in the drawing. The easiest way to paint metal is to use this paint. If you need to paint a shade of an object or a reflex on a shiny glossy surface, simply mix the silver paint with the paint of the desired color.

Step 3

Colorless metal objects can be painted in shades of gray and blue. Try to mix cool color, desaturated and almost transparent.

Step 4

If you are painting a metal roof, then its surface can be varied with almost all colors of the palette. On a cloudy day, the metal will be gray and dirty. In rainy - blue, bright, colorful or almost ominous - depending on the mood of the whole picture. Convey the heat by painting a hot roof. In this case, use more yellow, orange, red. Dilute the paint liberally with water and apply it casually to the paper, almost “smudge” it with a brush on the sheet. Let the metal roof reflect the sun and sky, transmit the heat. Make the sky above the roof warm and add a little yellow at the transition from metal to air. This will help accentuate the heat emanating from the metal.

Step 5

It is best to paint metallic objects with watercolors, as this paint is quite transparent and has a light texture. For colorless metal, dilute blue watercolor with water. If it lays on the paper unevenly, with streaks, it will even revive the object you are drawing. If you need to paint other metallic shades, mix the desired color with blue or gray. Use more water.

Step 6

When drawing metal objects, pay attention to their interaction with other parts of the still life. Usually the metal reflects on itself the objects standing nearby (reflexes). Sun glare and the difference between light, shadow and partial shade are always clearly visible on it.
