Role-playing weapons can be made from different materials. Textolite swords are more popular than others, but this material is not always at hand. Waste paper can be found in almost any home, and the blade from it will turn out to be no less durable.

It is necessary

  • - a roll of paper wallpaper;
  • - PVA glue or paste;
  • - a sharp knife;
  • - blade pattern;
  • - sandpaper;
  • - bronze or silver;
  • - varnish;
  • - gouache or nitro paint;
  • - press.

Instructions

Step 1

Even country houses are made from old newspapers. They are not afraid of the vagaries of the weather. The panels hold their shape very well and are quite solid. The same technology can be used to make a sword. Start by making patterns. You will need three parts - the blade itself, the guard and the handle. For the blade, draw a strip 1-1.5 m long and 10-20 cm wide on graph paper. Cut one end in the shape of an arrowhead. The guard is a circle with a hole into which the blade and the handle will be glued. The handle for the handle can be in the shape of the letter T.

Step 2

The procedure may vary. You can first cut the wallpaper into pieces, glue them, dry them, and then cut out the details according to the patterns. Another option is also possible - first cut out all the details, then glue them together. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. Pieces of paper are easy to glue, but not very convenient to cut, you need a very sharp knife with an oblique blade. In addition, notches appear on the cuts, which then need to be removed with sandpaper. In the second method, it is easy to cut out the parts, but it is rather troublesome to superimpose them on top of each other so that all the cuts are aligned. In general, with the first method, the work is faster. You should have parts with a thickness of 3-5 cm. You need to dry the parts under a press - for example, putting them on one board and closing on top of another.

Step 3

Glue the blade and hilt into the guard. Line the cut with fine-grain sandpaper. Prime the sword. The composition of the primer depends on what you are going to paint it with. For gouache, for example, water-based paint is suitable. Cover the sword with metal paint. You can make your own paint from aluminum or bronze powder, which you can buy at a hardware store or art store. The handle can be painted in any other color. Nothing prevents to decorate it with some kind of knightly coat of arms. Cover the sword with varnish.

Step 4

The blade can also be made from papier-mâché. To do this, you need a model - for example, someone's textolite or wooden sword. The model can, of course, be molded from plasticine, but in this case this is not the best way, since you need to get a rather large product, and the plasticine still does not hold its shape well enough. The technology is no different from that used for the manufacture of any other products. A layer of torn newsprint or napkins moistened with water is applied to the model, then several layers of torn paper are applied to the glue. The product is dried, then cut in half and glued again. Sand the finished sword, paint it with silver or bronze and varnish.
