In most cases, to novice needlewomen, knitting patterns seem like a meaningless set of checkmarks and squiggles, but you just need to find out the principles by which they are compiled, and the picture of the future thing is formed right before our eyes. And to understand all this gibberish of symbol-designation combinations is not so difficult.
Instructions
Step 1
You have mastered the techniques and elements of knitting, know how to make a typesetting row and finish the work. Now you just need to learn how to read knitting patterns. You need to knit according to the patterns very carefully and carefully, because any inaccuracy in the number of rows or loops and their location in the pattern will certainly distort the pattern and shape of the fabric of your product.
Step 2
Each model in a knitting magazine comes with a diagram. All schemes can be roughly divided into two categories: descriptions, that is, the pattern is explained in words, and graphic schemes, i.e. the pattern is explained using conventional symbols.
Step 3
The graphical diagram is a mesh with loop symbols. One cell corresponds to one loop. Most often, the front side of the work is formed by odd rows, they are indicated on numbers, the first is indicated in the lower corner, then the third, and so on. Even rows, on the contrary, indicate the seamy side of the canvas. The rows are read from bottom to top and from left to right. Please note that the edge loops are not shown in the pattern diagram.
Step 4
Each pattern or pattern consists of repeating elements (a certain number of knitted rows and loops). This part of the pattern is called a report. Having knitted the report, it is necessary to return to its beginning and repeat again. As a rule, there are several of them in one row.
Step 5
Pay attention to the legend. Usually they are indicated next to the diagram, although sometimes the legend is also in the text of the product description. We wish you enjoy the knitting process, and it will become your hobby for a long time.
