Cool Sam is one of the longest running brands in the gaming industry. Practically without changing the approach to gameplay, the developers have been creating the same game for almost a dozen years, which continues to be sold in huge numbers. However, the variety of parts gives rise to a number of problems - different games in the series even launch differently.
Instructions
Step 1
Serious Sam: The First Encounter and its add-ons are designed for Windows XP. Games run on almost any modern system. have fairly low system requirements. However, it is worth paying attention to the fact that the game requires OpenGL installed and will refuse to start without it: the issue is solved by installing the newest drivers for your video card. If you have "Cool Sam" version 1.5 and lower installed, the game will not start on Windows Vista / 7. It is worth finding the version 1.7 patch on the Internet.
Step 2
Download Virtual PC if the patch doesn't work. This program was created as an emulator of the second operating system, and will create a full visibility for the game launch on Windows XP. After installing and running the program, select the XP Mode option and only after that start the installation, directly, of the game. For best performance, set the Radeon HD graphics card in System Options.
Step 3
Serious Sam 2 has no compatibility problems: installing all the required software and the latest drivers will guarantee stable operation. However, there is a nuance - the directory where the game is installed should not contain Cyrillic characters (i.e. all folder names must be in English).
Step 4
The HD version of the first part of the game has more serious system requirements, and therefore may refuse to work on many machines. You will need at least 2 gigabytes of RAM, a 3 Ghz processor and a video card of at least the level of a GeForce 7600 or Radeon X1600. However, this is only a necessary minimum: only owners of GeForce 9800 and higher can afford a comfortable game.
Step 5
The third part of the game requires a really powerful computer. This means, first of all, a quad-core processor, a GeForce 480 GTX graphics card and 4 gigabytes of RAM. In addition, it is worth noting that the game requires a mandatory Internet connection and synchronization with Steam: unfortunately, this cannot be fixed. The "pirates" created a whole line of all sorts of Crack and NoSteam patches, but their installation violates the copyright of the developers.
