Tags Calderon Rosario, better known as Tego Calderon, is an actor and performer, a representative of the reggaeton musical style, a Puerto Rican style of music that combines features of dancehall, reggae and hip-hop.
Biography
The future performer was born on February 1, 1972 in the Santurze area of the Puerto Rican port city of San Juan. His double surname is a combination of the middle names of his parents, school teacher Pilar Rosario Parrilla and medical official Esteban Calderón Ilarras. Tego's mother and father were ardent fans of salsa and jazz music and from childhood instilled in his son a love for rhythmic melodies.
Closer to school age, Tego moved with his family to Miami. At school, he was actively involved in musical creativity, and then became a drummer in a local musical group, performing songs by Ozzy Osbourne and Led Zeppelin.
Early career
In the nineties, Tego developed his own style, including elements of salsa, hip-hop, dancehall, and his lyrical texts reflected the urban theme. He began to take part in television contests, dreaming of one day getting to the musical Olympus.
Along with trying to start a musical career, Tego earned his living and his hobby. He managed to be a mechanic and a courier, but he could not make his dream come true. During one of the competitions, he met Eddie Dee, another star of Puerto Rican hip-hop, who immediately became popular after his participation in the competition. And it was thanks to this friendship that fate gave Tego another chance.
In 2000, after a successful audition, Tego Calderon signed his first contract with the famous Puerto Rican record label Boricua Guerrero and his songs were played on the radio. Eddie and Elias, the founder of the company, literally forced Tego to work a lot on their works and the result was not long in coming. By the way, unlike standard hip-hop songs, where criminal themes, violence and hatred of women are actively discussed, Calderon created completely different texts filled with joy and positive.
