The Avengers is one of the highest grossing films. The picture combined several superheroes at once, which greatly increased its reputation, making the film a bestseller.
Loki, the god of Asgard, makes a deal with the lord of the alien race, the Chitauri. He exchanges the tesseract (the eternal source of cosmic energy) for an army designed to take over the Earth. Loki arrives on Earth and takes control of several employees of the SHIELD agency, including Clint Barton.
Agency director Nick Fury revives the previously canceled Avengers Initiative. The result is a team of Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff), Bruce Banner (Hulk), Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Captain America (Steve Rogers). The heroes are sent to the flying aircraft carrier SHIELD. - Helicarrier.
Loki appears in Stuttgart, where he tries to force the civilian population to swear allegiance to him. Captain America and Iron Man take the god prisoner, but his half-brother Horus, the god of thunder, appears. He wants to persuade his brother to return the tesseract and realizes that Captain America and Iron Man are pursuing the same goal. Horus takes their side.
Loki is transported to the Helicarrier. The heroes discover information according to which the SHIELD agency. developed weapons based on the tesseract. Rogers and Stark accuse Director Fury of cheating, and the team begins to quarrel, almost turning into open conflict. The aircraft carrier is attacked by the soldiers of Loki and Hawkeye. The accident becomes the cause that awakened the Hulk in Banner. Horus tries to restrain him, but as a result, the Hulk falls off the ship. Black Widow fights Hawkeye, and a blow to the head removes Loki's control.
Loki gets out of the cell. On the way out of captivity, he drops Thor from the aircraft carrier, kidnaps the tesseract, and mortally wounds Agent Coulson. Coulson's death becomes a motive that unites the heroes in the fight against a common enemy.
The heroes go to Earth, where, in the fight against more powerful forces, they win, gaining universal recognition. Thor takes the tesseract and returns Loki's brother to Asgard.
