The soft forms and curves of the naked female body accurately and effectively convey the tonal pattern made with charcoal. Such a sketch is effective in itself - therefore, so that it does not lose its lightness and grace, we will only emphasize the dignity of the figure, and hide the shortcomings. Perhaps you will discover the qualities of coal that are unfamiliar so far, which made it possible to perfectly cope with the capacious task - to apply spots of tone and at the same time make a line drawing.

It is necessary

  • - paper
  • - sticks of coal
  • - eraser
  • - paper napkins
  • - fixative

Instructions

Step 1

We outline the outlines of the body. Break off a small piece from the charcoal stick and, applying an intermediate tone, outline the main contours of the model's body with its side. Lightly rub the charcoal pigment with your finger. With a sharpened charcoal stick, mark the outlines of the back, abdomen and upper legs; rub the lines with your finger. Draw the model's left hand, then grind the charcoal again.

Step 2

Apply a dark tone. Show the curve of the neck in an intermediate tone and mark the place where the head of the model begins. Mark the thigh and chest with thick shading. Deepen the tone on the left side of the face, and then rub the applied shading with your finger. Draw the legs and rub the lines again with your finger.

Step 3

We draw the outlines. Use the tip of a charcoal stick to outline the model's belly, chest and buttocks. Add shading along the ribcage, across the left chest and in the indentation of the thighs, and then rub the strokes again.

Step 4

Add shadows. Describe the contours of the legs with the tip of a charcoal stick, darken the feet. Apply a dark tone to your feet, rub in charcoal. Add shadows cast on the bed between the legs, under the thighs, and under the back.

Step 5

Draw facial features. Deepen the tone of the torso with shading, rub it with your finger. Refine the outline of the model's chest. Move to the head and draw the chin and the left side of the face with the tip of the charcoal stick. Draw lips, nostrils, and eyes. Start applying the tone to the model's forehead and hair.

Step 6

Define the face and hair. Continue to describe the shape of the model's face: slightly deepen the tone on the lighted side and in the eye sockets, while keeping the facial features "soft". Apply the tone to your hair, mark a few strands. To complete the tonal and linear drawing of the left hand, shade and rub the shadow under the model's hand.

Step 7

Making clarifications. Take a look at your work to determine what refinements need to be made. Cover the drawing with a layer of aerosol fixative.
