Electric guitar strings are subject to significant mechanical stress. After about a month, they begin to lose their properties, become less elastic, and may even burst. Therefore, any guitarist should be able to remove the strings and put new ones in their place.
Instructions
Step 1
Loosen the worn strings by twisting the tuning pegs and remove them. Remove accumulated dust from the saddles and tuners. Wipe the neck of your guitar with a soft, dry cloth soaked in a special care product until the strings get in your way. These products can be purchased at specialized music stores. There are also chemicals for treating strings that are used to prevent contamination and oxidation. If any string is broken, remove it from the tuning peg, and carefully remove the rest of the string from below, through the nut.
Step 2
Thread the new strings through the saddle and pull them up to the tuning pegs. Insert them into the special holes. Tighten the tuning pegs without excessive tension. The winding direction should be the same for all strings. The excess length of the strings can be bite off with pliers, you can leave it free, or you can screw it on the peg entirely. It all depends on your desire and availability of time.
Step 3
Tune your guitar, taking into account the string numbers and overall pitch. Leave the instrument for a while; the strings should stretch a little. Beginners, hearing that the guitar does not sound right, mistakenly believe that they have got a low-quality product. Don't be scared - that's okay. A couple of hours and the strings will stop stretching. After waiting for a while, check the tuning again and tune the guitar again if necessary. If you rearrange the strings during rehearsal, consider the stretch ability of the new strings and watch the tuning of the guitar.
Step 4
Don't change just one string - it will sound slightly different than the old strings. Better to change all the strings, then you can be sure of a good guitar sound. The instrument will be ready to play in a couple of hours. As mentioned above, if you want to play right away, you will have to tune the guitar during rehearsal or concert.
