The bar of a knitted product can become not only a functional, but also an important decorative element. It can be tied separately and sewn onto finished garments. Often this detail is performed as a continuation of the main work along the edge of the neck or shelf. This is a crucial moment - after all, if there are too many loops, the bar will go with ugly assemblies; with an insufficient number of them, the canvas will be tightened. For a good result, it is important to make accurate knitting calculations.

It is necessary

  • - two straight knitting needles;
  • - yarn;
  • - tailor's meter;
  • - a thread of a contrasting color or knitting markers;
  • - auxiliary thread;
  • - iron;
  • - darning needle.

Instructions

Step 1

Before dialing the loops for the plank, it is recommended to perform a test sample of the work with the selected pattern. You need to correlate the obtained knitting density with the main fabric, and also measure the length of the inlaid edge with a tailor's meter. Calculate the number of loops you need for the plank. Let's say there are 60 of them.

Step 2

Divide the edge into several identical sections and mark their borders with threads of a contrasting color or special marker rings.

Step 3

Measure the number of stitches to be made in each hem. To do this, divide the total number of loops (here - 60) by the resulting number of segments (for example, by 3). 60: 3 = 20 stitches in each section.

Step 4

Cast on the buttonhole for the one-layer placket along the right side of the knit. To do this, grab the first edge loop by both threads and knit the first loop of the plank from it.

Step 5

Make the second loop of the part from the next edging in the same way as the first. However, to get the third loop of the strap, you only need to insert the working knitting needle for one fraction of the same loop from which the second loop was knitted. This technique is called "three loops of two".

Step 6

Try to loop the plank from the broaches between the loops of the lower row. In this case, you need to dial fewer temples than there are transverse threads in the typesetting edge. It is recommended to work in the following sequence: knit three loops from three broaches, skip the fourth.

Step 7

Practice making a double-layer plank (for example, to fasten a jacket). To do this, dial the loops from the inside of the product and tie the part (in this case, multiply the required strip width by two). Knit the last three rows with an auxiliary thread.

Step 8

Carefully remove the extra thread and iron the last (open) row of stitches for a better fit. Sew the front of the piece to the “face” of the garment with a stitching stitch.

Step 9

Make a plank along the neckline, taking one loop from each eyelet of the previous row on the horizontal section of the hem. On the bevel of the canvas, be guided not by the number of lower loops, but by the rows of knitting.
