Warm socks, knitted by hand, are a great gift for friends and relatives, as well as an indispensable piece of clothing for the winter cold. Learning to knit socks with your own hands is not as difficult as it seems - if you decide to master the technique of knitting socks, first of all, master the order of a set of stocking loops. Prepare yarn and five knitting needles.
Instructions
Step 1
Cast on the knitting needles the required number of loops in a cruciform manner, without thickening the edge and making sure that the number of loops is a multiple of four. Having typed on the loops, distribute them over four knitting needles so that there are an equal number of loops on each knitting needle.
Step 2
Using the fifth knitting needle, start knitting in a circle of 1x1 or 2x2 elastic, starting at the outermost knitting needle, to get the cuffs of the future sock. When you finish knitting a circular elastic cuff, continue to knit round - knit the entire fabric entirely with front loops.
Step 3
When you get to the heel, add another thread to the yarn for strength, and then transfer the stitches from the third and second knitting needles to one common knitting needle. Knit a simple stocking fabric by combining rows of knit and purl stitches.
Step 4
On both sides of the resulting fabric, knit the two extreme loops on the contrary - knit the purl loops with the front knit, and the front loops with the purl. Having tied the heel to the desired height and without knitting the loops of the first and fourth knitting needles, begin to dial new loops from the edge loops along the edge of the heel, if necessary, making decreases on the second and third knitting needles through the row.
Step 5
On the second knitting needle, knit two loops together at the beginning of knitting, and on the third knitting needle, knit two loops together at the end of knitting. Knit a circular knit in a stocking until you reach the base of your thumb, and then begin to lower stitches to the toe on each knitting needle. When you reach the end of the toe, knit two stitches together.
