Preparing for embroidery
Before you start embroidering with beads, prepare everything you need. You will need:
- canvas or any other fabric for embroidery;
- a thin needle;
- silk threads to match the fabric;
- embroidery scheme;
- beads and bugles.
It is best for beginner embroiderers to use the "Aida 14" or "Aida 12" canvas. This is a special fabric for counted cross stitching. The threads on this fabric are intertwined in a special way so that the holes located at the same distance are visible, so it is very convenient to embroider on it with beads.
Both beads and bugles are suitable for embroidery. In handicraft shops there are beads made in Japan, Czech Republic and China. The best, of course, is Czech and Japanese. The beads are smooth, without defects. The advantage of Chinese beads is their low price, but then they should be calibrated before embroidery. It is beautiful when beads of the same size are used in embroidery, such embroidery is smooth and expressive.
Pick up a very thin needle so that the beads pass freely through its eyelet.
There are special kits for embroidery with beads. Beginning embroiderers are advised to start with them, since it contains fabric, a special pattern for embroidery and a sufficient number of beads of all the necessary shades have been selected.
If you cannot find a suitable kit on sale, use the cross stitch chart.
Bead embroidery on canvas
Now you can start embroidery directly. Hoop the canvas. Secure the thread with a few stitches and start sewing individual beads with stitches from the lower right corner to the upper left corner of the canvas. That is, insert the needle into the lower right corner of the canvas cell, string the bead and sew it by inserting the needle into the upper left corner from the front side to the wrong side. Then again bring the needle into the hole in the lower left corner of the next cell, string the next bead and repeat the seam. Sew on as many beads of the same shade, as indicated in the diagram. It is best to sew in rows.
Contour bead embroidery
Very beautiful contour embroidery is obtained from beads; it is used to decorate clothes, tablecloths, napkins and so on. Transfer the contours of the embroidery to the fabric using special carbon paper. String a few beads on a thread, attach this tape to the outline of the pattern and sew with a “sticky” seam, placing small stitches between the beads.
