A demi-season coat that has served you for more than one season can be updated and made unrecognizable. The main thing is not to be afraid to take such serious measures as shortening the product.
It is necessary
- - sewing machine,
- - buttons on the leg,
- - scissors,
- - needles and threads of a suitable color.
Instructions
Step 1
Clean any dirt from your coat. Use a special detergent for woollens, but do not machine wash the garment. In case the contamination is very significant, have the coat dry-cleaned.
Step 2
Remove any loose lumps on the sleeves and hem of the coat. You can do it by hand, use tape or a special typewriter. When using this device, be careful not to damage the fabric.
Step 3
Shorten your coat a few centimeters. You can do it yourself or go to a tailor shop.
Step 4
Rinse the cut-off hem in water and fabric softener. Iron through damp gauze.
Step 5
Purchase leg buttons from the accessories department. Their size should be slightly smaller than the old ones. Cover them with fabric cut from your coat. Sew on the old buttons.
Step 6
Make a bow pattern from the leftover material from the hem of the coat. To do this, cut out a rectangle measuring, for example, 16 by 12 cm. Fold the rectangle in half, lay a line along the side seam so that you get a cylinder. Place the seam in the middle of the resulting 8 x 12 cm rectangle, and stitch along one side. Turn out the workpiece, sew the hole with a neat blind seam. Cut out a small strip of fabric that will fold the bow. Fold the strip in three so that the cut of the material is hidden inside, grab the bow blank with the resulting ribbon, sew on the wrong side. Cut off excess fabric.
Step 7
Sew a bow to the lapel or side of your coat.
Step 8
You can make a bow with two pieces. To do this, build a pattern of another slightly smaller rectangle. Sew in the same way (as in Step 6). Place the small piece of the bow on the large one, then wrap it with a thin strip. Straighten the wrinkles.
