Instructions
Step 1
For a summer dress of quick sewing, you will need a thin flowing fabric that easily forms soft folds. Such properties are possessed by silk, muslin, satin, some varieties of crepe, linen jersey and many others. To ensure that the selected fabric meets the requirements, hold the edge of the cut in your hand. The material should flow beautifully, sliding easily from the palm of your hand.
Step 2
Cut out a rectangle of fabric two to three meters wide, depending on your physique and how thick and thick you want the pleats on the dress. The height depends on the length of the product. There will be only one seam on such a dress - on the back.
Step 3
Fold the rectangle in half widthwise. At the fold, step back 5–10 cm from the top edge and make an incision to form the neckline. Decorate the entire top edge with a drawstring. Pull two ribbons into it. Sew their ends into the back seam at the back. When putting on a dress, tie the ribbons that come out in the front into the central slit around the neck. At the same time, form an elegant bow on the back or side. Tie the dress under the bust with the same ribbon.
Step 4
To sew a pinafore dress, spread a large sheet of white paper on a flat surface. Put your shirt on it and trace around it. Add the lines of the future dress around the finished drawing, forming a trapezoid. To make the pattern symmetrical, cut out the pattern by folding it in half.
Step 5
For a prominent bust figure, make the front hem slightly longer. Hand sweep the shoulder and side seams. Try on the dress, touch up and hem as needed, then sew on the sewing machine.
Step 6
Treat the armholes, neckline and bottom of the garment. Sew with tucked edges, overcast with zigzag stitch or trim with bias tape. Decorate the dress with satin ribbon flowers or lace. You can also sew shuttlecocks to the bottom and armholes.
