The famous flared sun skirt does not lose its relevance, because this model can serve as both casual wear and part of a festive outfit. The pattern of the product is quite simple, so an inexperienced seamstress can start working with it. The main detail of the cut is a large circle (“sun” panel) with a small circle in the center (waist line). In addition, you will need a simple top-hem belt.
It is necessary
- - tracing paper or newspaper;
- - working canvas;
- - scissors;
- - pencil;
- - crayon;
- - compasses;
- - tailor's meter.
Instructions
Step 1
Find out the size of the two radii - the circumference of the bottom of the main panel of the sun skirt and the waist line. To find out the inner radius of a cut detail, measure the circumference of the hips and add 4-5 cm to the result obtained for a free fit. At the waist, the product will be pressed with a belt. The size of the outer radius - the bottom edge of the skirt - will depend on the desired length of the garment.
Step 2
If you want to cut out a small sun skirt (for example, for a child), then you can draw the main panel on a single piece of canvas. In this case, the cut detail will do without side seams. Leave only 1.5 cm for the bottom and top hem.
Step 3
To transfer the flared skirt pattern from one piece of fabric to the fabric, make a four-layer square from a wide cut. In this case, it is necessary to carefully combine all the edges and fix the folds with tailor's pins - otherwise the linen layers will part under the scissors.
Step 4
A large product will have to be cut out of two parts. Each piece of the cut will be a semicircle (1/2 inner and outer radius).
Step 5
Remember to leave seam allowances of 0.8 to 1.5 cm on each side, depending on the material used. On a thin but durable fabric with non-flowing cuts, there will be a small margin for sewing. Wider allowances are allowed on dense fabrics.
Step 6
For convenience, you can cut out only one sector of the main panel on paper - 14 inner and outer radii. To do this, fold the paper in two halves and mark the cutting lines. Cut out the part and unfold the paper template to create a semicircle.
Step 7
Cut out the waistband of the garment in the form of a rectangular strip of the desired width. The length of the part must be equal to the inner radius of the main panel. Add 5-6 cm to this value for hemming the waistband and button closure.
Step 8
When cutting out a sun skirt from two semi-suns, lay out the working fabric on the table in one layer, then carefully smooth out all the wrinkles. The main panels are cut along the shared thread: the line of the side seam of the parts should lie parallel to the vertical edge of the woven cut.
Step 9
Draw the belt rectangle along the oblique line of the work fabric. When laying out parts on the canvas, do not forget to leave a distance between them for allowances for connecting seams and hem.
