It is very easy to sew a delicate and feminine skirt if you choose the "sun-flared" style. This is a simple and effective model at the same time.
A skirt of this cut looks great in any lightweight fabric. It can be sewn as an independent item or as a skirt for a dress or a sundress of almost any top style. If you are looking for a pattern for a warm skirt or a skirt made of dense fabric, it is better to stop at least at the "half sun" or four-piece. Also, a straight skirt pattern is perfect for dense fabrics.
A flared sun skirt can be sewn to almost any length. The mini sun will well accentuate long slender legs, and the maxi sun will create a surprisingly delicate silhouette with a thin waist. If you are looking for an elegant skirt with a touch of romance, choose this style.
We build a pattern
To build a pattern, measure your waist. You will also need to determine the length of the skirt you want. If you are unsure of your sewing skills, first construct a pattern on paper. The sun-flared skirt pattern consists of two concentric circles (see figure), where the length of the smaller circle is equal to the waist (or a little more to pin the fabric on the belt if you want to get a fuller skirt). An experienced seamstress may not be limited to a full-size pattern, but a small sketch with exact dimensions.
When buying fabric, check its width. You will need at least two skirt lengths. If the fabric you like is already, then you will have to cut the resulting pattern in half and cut two halves of the "sun".
Do not forget to cut out the belt of the skirt (a rectangle located along the equity, the length of which is equal to the waist + 2-5 cm for the fastener).
Sewing a skirt
If the skirt was cut out entirely, we make a cut on the side and sew in a zipper. If from two halves, then we sew the halves, we sew a zipper into one of the seams. Sew on the belt, button for fastening to the end of the belt. We twist and hem the bottom of the skirt. It is better that the hem is not large.
If desired, the skirt can be trimmed with lace or flounce.
