Hats not only protect you from the cold and the harmful effects of the external environment, but also decorate your look, adding a certain style accent to it. With the help of a well-chosen headdress, you can create radically different images - from informal to classic and evening. Traditional hats and top hats are still popular today, and a homemade top hat will be a complete addition to your carnival, festive or theatrical costume.

Instructions

Step 1

Making a cylinder of your own is not difficult - for this you need fabric of the right color and thick cardboard, as well as threads, glue and scissors. Draw the details of the cylinder on cardboard - a rectangle with a length equal to the circumference of the head and a width equal to the height of the cylinder; a circle and a ring, the width of which corresponds to the future fields.

Step 2

Cut out the blanks, and then attach them to the fabric, cut out the corresponding parts from the fabric to fit the cylinder. For the brim, you will need to cut out two fabric rings to fit both the top and bottom.

Step 3

Sew together the blanks for the fields of the cylinder, turn them out and insert the frame for the fields inside in the form of a ring.

Step 4

Grease other cardboard blanks for the frame of the cylinder with PVA glue, then put the fabric parts on top of the glue and iron with a heated iron. Apply the glue in a thin layer so that after drying it does not appear on the fabric in the form of white spots. Lay fabric evenly without wrinkling.

Step 5

Glue the crown of the cylinder and glue it from the inside to the brim using bent teeth. Tuck all the edges of the fabric inward. Having pasted over the top circle of the cylinder with a cloth, glue it onto the finished crown from above. Carefully glue the seams from the inside, making sure no glue protrudes onto the outside of the cylinder. Decorate the top hat with flowers and ribbons.
