Instructions

Step 1

Launch Adobe Photoshop and open any photo in it. To do this, click the "File" menu item, then in the "Open" drop-down menu (or more simply - use the Ctrl + O keys). In the window that appears, select the required file and click "Open".

Step 2

At the moment, there is only one layer in the document - this is its background. Click Layer> New> Layer (or Shift + Ctrl + N) to create another layer. In the window that appears, immediately click "OK".

Step 3

Select the "Rectangular Marquee" tool (hotkey M, switch between adjacent elements - Shift + M) and use it to select some area in the image, for example, the bottom one, as in the illustration above. Make white the main color, activate the Fill tool (G, toggle - Shift + G) and paint over the selected area by clicking inside it with the left mouse button.

Step 4

In the "Layers" tab, right-click on "Layer 1" (it was created by you in the second step of the tutorial) and select "Blending Options". In the "Opacity" field, set from 20% to 40%, at your discretion, leave the rest of the parameters unchanged. Switch to the Stroke style, which is at the very bottom of the list of styles, and set the Opacity to about 20%. The area you selected will take on a whitish tint.

Step 5

Activate the background layer in the list of layers, click Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur, enter about 35 in the Radius field and click OK. The selected area will become matte.

Step 6

To save the result, click the File menu item, then Save As (or press the Ctrl + Shift + S key combination), select a location to save, name the future file somehow, specify Jpeg in the File Type field and click “Save.
