Cold porcelain has nothing to do with the real thing from which the dishes are made. This is a plastic material, like plasticine or polymer clay, from which you can mold small souvenirs and decorative items for decorating plastic, glass or porcelain dishes. Even beginners can cook this wonderful material at home, especially since the ingredients for its manufacture are available.

Cold porcelain recipe

To get cold porcelain, prepare the dough, a set of products for making it can be bought at any supermarket. You will need:

- 1 cup cornstarch;

- 1 glass of PVA glue;

- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice;

- 1 tablespoon of olive oil;

- 1 tablespoon of petroleum jelly or glycerin.

In addition, you will need a greasy cream for greasing surfaces, hands and ready-made dough, a wooden spatula, cling film, a glass pan for the microwave, a plastic container with a lid.

Pour PVA glue, olive oil, lemon juice, petroleum jelly or glycerin into a glass pan and mix everything very thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Add cornstarch to the mixture and mix everything thoroughly with a wooden spatula. The dough is ready, now you need to cook it.

You can cook cold porcelain on a regular stove, but it is much more convenient to do this procedure in the microwave.

Cold porcelain cooking

Set the microwave to maximum power, cooking time 30 seconds. Place the cookware with the prepared dough. After 30 seconds, remove the pan, mix the mixture thoroughly with a wooden spatula clockwise. Microwave for another 30 seconds at maximum power. Mix everything again.

Then set the power to 600 and put the dishes back for 30 seconds, mix the dough and repeat the procedure. In total, it will take you only 5 minutes to cook cold porcelain in the microwave. The finished dough should be viscous and curl on a spatula.

After cooking, a crust may form on the surface, which must be removed and discarded.

Lubricate the work surface and hands with a fat cream. Any hand or face cream can be used. Spread out the mass and knead like an ordinary dough. While it's hot, do it through a towel. Then, when the dough has cooled, knead with your hands. The longer and more thoroughly you knead, the more ductile the cold porcelain becomes.

You can start sculpting the object immediately after preparing the cold porcelain. But it can be prepared for future use. Lubricate cling film or any plastic bag with cream, wrap the mass in it and place in a plastic container.

To get multi-colored cold porcelain, you need to paint it with acrylic or oil paints. Divide the mass into several pieces, add paint to them and knead until a uniform color is obtained. You can also paint the finished product in the desired colors.
