Applique making develops imaginative thinking, creativity and fine motor skills in children. The natural elements that are used to create the paintings are simply collected in the park for a walk. Armfuls of colorful autumn leaves can be dried for future use, or can be used fresh.
Decorative tree from autumn leaves
An original applique can be made from small autumn leaves. If you show diligence and accuracy when completing this picture, it can serve as an unusual decorative decoration for the room.
Find a photo frame that matches your decor in style. It can be used with or without glass. Cut the base out of the textured paper to fit the backing and glue it. Instead of paper, linen fabric will also look interesting. It is advisable to use light shades for the base, so that later the leaves do not get lost on a dark background.
On heavy white or light brown paper, draw a tree trunk with several curved branches large enough to fit the cutout into a frame. Glue the wood onto the prepared background.
The contour of the tree can be drawn with paints directly on the background glued to the substrate.
Glue the dried small leaves from the bushes onto the branches of a paper tree. Use any transparent glue. To make the composition last longer, you can gently cover the dried leaves with acrylic varnish using a soft brush.
Fresh leaf applications
Place the collected autumn leaves with your child on the table. Ask him to compose a picture from them. It can be an animal figurine or an insect. To make a butterfly, you can put two large leaves and two small ones in a mirror, then you get wings. Build a body from a stick. For a fish, you need one round or oblong leaf, to which you attach two narrow fin-leaves on top, and one on the bottom. Make a fishtail from two or three more narrow leaves.
Find the right background for your applique, such as colored cardboard or velvet paper. Stick the leaves onto the base in order of priority. Then place a blank sheet of paper over the picture and cover it with a stack of books on top. Leave it on for a couple of days. This will align the glued leaves.
You can even make a quick picture from one sheet. Glue it to white writing paper. Draw the rest of the fictional figure with a felt-tip pen.
Dry autumn leaves applique
For this craft, you can use those leaves that were damaged during the drying process. Draw a picture on a piece of paper. It can be printed from the Internet or cut from a magazine.
Crumble the colorful dry leaves into a wide bowl. Apply PVA glue with a brush to the picture and sprinkle with a mass of leaves on top. Wait for the glue to dry and shake off excess. So make the whole picture.
