Kukan is a special device for preserving caught fish. Fish on a kukan live longer due to the relative freedom of movement after capture. In the cage, the fish falls asleep very quickly, so the use of a kukan is justified on long fishing trips, several days long.
It is necessary
- Cord (rope)
- Carbines
- Swivels
- Wire (or bicycle spokes)
- Nippers
- Emery cloth
Instructions
Step 1
To make a kukan, you need to choose the right cord. It is best not to use a twisted cord to avoid twisting and entangling the cookan. If fishing is planned from the shore, a length of 3-4 meters is sufficient. If fishing usually takes place from a boat, the length of the line can be made 7-8 meters.
Step 2
After choosing and preparing the cord, you need to make fasteners for the kukan. They are usually made of metal wire. At home, the clasp can be bent using a bicycle needle cutter. To do this, you need to cut the needles into pieces of the same size.
Step 3
After that, take a swivel, thread a piece of knitting needle into it, wrap a wire around it, thus securing the ring. Then, from one half of the piece, you need to form a loop, and from the second half, a hook, which will be fastened with this loop. Moreover, the tip of the future hook must first be slightly sharpened, so that it is more convenient to plant the fish on the cook.
Step 4
It remains only to make a few of these hooks on swivels, and then assemble the kukan. Swivels with clasps are strung on the cord one by one. They can be fixed with direct knots on the cord, or after the swivels, you can thread pieces of tubes or wine corks so that the hooks do not gather in one place and the fish is evenly placed along the width of the cook.
