Plastic bottles are the most suitable material for making bird feeders if you don't have a lot of time in your stock. Any bottle with a volume of one to five liters is suitable for creating a feeder.
How to make a bird feeder from a plastic bottle with your own hands
You will need:
- plastic bottle from two to five liters;
- scotch tape;
- a branch of average thickness 10 cm longer than the diameter of the bottle;
- rope.
Rinse and dry the bottle well. Take scissors with sharp tips and cut in a bottle, stepping back from the bottom about five centimeters, opposite each other two identical holes about 10 centimeters high. As for their width, it is ideal - the entire width of the bottle, leaving only small bridges between the "windows" about two centimeters so that they connect the upper and lower parts of the bottle.
Next, you need to glue the cuts of the bottle with adhesive tape so that the birds, sitting on the feeder, do not get hurt. Then make a small hole in the bottle cork, take a rope from 30 to 50 centimeters long, connect the cuts together and thread them into the cork, tie a large and strong knot.
Using a sharp knife or scissors, make two holes with a diameter no larger than the prepared branch under the cut-out "windows" (holes must be made opposite each other). Thread a branch through them.
Make five to seven small holes in the bottom of the bottle so that water does not accumulate.
The bird feeder is ready, now you can pour food into it and hang it, for example, on a tree in the courtyard of the house.
How to make a bird feeder from a 1.5 liter plastic bottle
You will need:
- a plastic bottle with a volume of 1.5 liters;
- rope;
- two spoons (preferably wooden).
The first step is to rinse and dry the bottle. Then make a small hole in the middle of the cork, take a rope about 30-50 centimeters long, connect its sections together and pass through the hole in the cork. To tie a knot.
Next, you need to make four holes in the bottle crosswise, with two holes in the bottom of the bottle facing each other, and two more in the middle of the bottle. Pass spoons through these holes. It is worth remembering that the holes should be exactly the same as the handle of the spoons, you should not make large gaps.
Using a sharp knife, slightly widen the holes in the bottle near the scoops of the spoons. The bird feeder is ready, now you can pour food into it and place it in the yard of the house.
It is worth noting that, if desired, the feeders can be painted or decorated with various decorative elements in the form of beads from dried rowan berries, viburnum, orange slices, apples, and so on.
