To help the birds cope with the winter cold, we can make a convenient feeder for them, which can be hung in the park, in the country or even on the balcony of your apartment.
It is necessary
- - plywood 5 mm, 0.5 sq. m.;
- - plywood 3 mm, 0.5 sq. m.;
- - shoe nails;
- - self-tapping screws;
- - a block of wood 20 x 20 mm - 3 m.
- - linoleum 0.5 sq. m;
- - oil paint 0, 5 kg;
- - waterproof glue;
- - a set of tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare blanks for making a feeder. First, cut the rectangles out of the plywood with a hacksaw. One 5mm plywood rectangle is the floor. The other two are wings for the roof of the feeder. We will make a floor of 300 mm x 250 mm, and two blanks for the roof - 180 mm x 300 mm. File the chamfers.
Step 2
Thoroughly paint the blanks with oil paint on all sides. This will protect them from aggressive environmental influences. Let the items dry.
Step 3
In the meantime, get ready for the frame bars. With a hacksaw, cut a 20 x 20 bar (any other bar of commensurate size will do, but then you will have to independently recalculate the characteristic dimensions according to the scheme) into parts: 260 mm - 5 pcs; 250 mm - 4 pcs; 180 mm - 8 pcs; 150 mm - 4 pcs. Parts of 150 mm should be cut at 34 degrees and 56 degrees. The rest of the parts are filed at an angle of 90 degrees. File the chamfers. Stain the resulting parts and leave to dry.
Step 4
Prepare bedding for the bottom of the linoleum trough. Cut out a 260mm x 210mm rectangle.
Step 5
How to make a simple bird feeder? Now you need to prepare the frame of the feeder for assembly. To do this, we will make holes and seats. With a 2-3 mm drill, we will fix the seats for the screws, and with a 3-5 mm drill we will make holes for through fixing of the parts. We make holes according to the attached diagram. In order not to get confused in the workpieces, we give their parameters: Part 1 - 4 pcs. - 250 mm; Detail 2 (with saws at an angle) - 4 pcs. - 150 mm; Detail 3 - 4 pcs. - 260 mm; Detail 4 - 1 pc. - 260 mm.
Step 6
Next, we will make the racks of the feeder. These are 180 mm bars. Let's make a 203 mm drill on both sides of each bar for the screw to a depth of 10 mm.
Step 7
Let's assemble the frame of the feeder. We fasten the details with screws and shoe nails. Let's start with the top and bottom frames. We act according to the scheme.
Step 8
We put the resulting frames of the upper and lower parts on the 180 mm posts. We act according to the assembly diagram. The result is the main frame.
Step 9
It remains to prepare the frame for the roof. We act according to the assembly diagram. A screw hole can be drilled to secure Part 4 in place. This is necessary because the stud-fastened vault can come apart. Part 4 is the ridge of the trough roof. It already has screw leads. Part 4 provides additional torsional rigidity. You need to install it with a diamond. It will not converge with the corner of the roof, but it will close the space between the plywood sheets on the roof and, with a good coincidence, you can also catch on it with studs when we lay the roof.
Step 10
Now, with the help of shoe nails, we will attach the bottom to its location, and glue the linoleum inside. Top with a thin plywood roof. All plywood parts are fastened with shoe nails. The location of the nail is not critical, however, it is better to strive to place the nails in the center of the bar.
