It is not uncommon for musical compositions from successful films to become hits. Having a copy of the movie they like, many users think about how to extract music from the video, getting it in the form of separate tracks. One of the applications that allows you to do this is VirtualDub.

Instructions
Step 1
Open the video you want to extract music from in VirtualDub. Click on the "Open video file …" item in the File section of the main menu, press the Ctrl + O key combination or simply drag the file with the mouse into the application window.
Step 2
Determine the approximate beginning of the fragment from which the music will be extracted. Start video playback by clicking on the Input playback button in the bottom panel. Move the slider to quickly jump to different parts of the video. Stop playback at the right moment with the Stop button.
Step 3
Set the start position of the selection. Use the Home key on your keyboard, the Mark in button on the toolbar, or the Set selection start item on the Edit menu.
Step 4
Determine and set the position of the end of the selection. Continue video playback. Interrupt it when the music to be extracted ends. Click End on your keyboard, the Mark out button on the toolbar, or click Set selection end on the Edit menu.
Step 5
Begin the process of fine-tuning the selection area. Go to the beginning. To do this, select Selection start from the Go menu, or press the [key.
Step 6
Play the video from the point where the selection starts. Determine in which direction you need to move the marker so that the selection more accurately covers the piece of music. Use the Go menu commands or the cursor keys to precisely position the current frame pointer. Set a new position for the start of the selection. Repeat these steps as many times as necessary. Adjust the position of the end of the selection in the same way.
Step 7
Expand the Audio section of the main menu. Click on the item Full processing mode. This activates the full audio processing mode.
Step 8
Open the audio encoder settings dialog. In the Audio section of the main menu, click on the "Compression…" item. In the lists of the displayed dialog, highlight your preferred codec and data format. Click OK.
Step 9
Extract music from video. Select File and Save WAV… from the menu. Enter a name for the file and specify the directory to save it. Click OK. Wait for the process to finish.
