SLR cameras have become more popular in recent years. This can be explained by the fact that they have become much more accessible to a wide range of amateur photographers and are no longer considered the property of professional photographers.

What is a DSLR camera

A DSLR is a type of camera whose design is based on an optical design based on an SLR viewfinder. Due to this, when shooting, the photographer sees in the viewfinder exactly the image that will appear in the picture.

The scheme of operation of a reflex camera is as follows: the light flux passing through the lens hits the mirror, reflected from which it hits the pentaprism. After passing through the pentaprism, the light enters the eyepiece of the viewfinder. At the time of shooting, the mirror rises, blocking the viewfinder. At the same time, the shutter rises for the exposure time, covering the matrix.

In addition, focus sensors are installed in the body of a reflex camera, the light flux on which falls, reflected from an additional mirror.

SLR cameras have a number of advantages and disadvantages associated with their structure. One of the main disadvantages is the cost of DSLRs. It is quite high due to the complexity of the camera manufacturing process. Also, due to the complexity of the structure and the presence of moving mechanical parts, the reliability of the camera decreases. The presence of a pentaprism and a mirror makes it necessary to make a rather massive body, which is far from always convenient. However, the large body allows for more controls and is more comfortable to hold in the hand.

The advantages of SLR cameras, first of all, include the quality of the images. This is achieved due to the fact that large-size matrices are installed in DSLRs, which allow photographing with high sensitivity. Other advantages include the ability to change the lens, ease of aiming and high speed and accuracy of focusing, as well as extensive manual adjustment options to achieve maximum image quality.
