Even a novice needlewoman can cope with sewing a bag from fabric; it is enough to have the ability to lay a straight line on a typewriter. After spending just a couple of hours on making, you will become the owner of an exclusive accessory.
It is necessary
- - main fabric;
- - lining fabric;
- - doublerin;
- - scissors;
- - threads to match the fabric;
- - sewing accessories.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the material for making the bag. Any cotton or linen, denim or silk fabric and so on will do. It all depends on the purpose of the future bag and your preferences.
Step 2
Cut out two rectangles of equal size from the base and lining fabric, their size will depend on the desired volume of the bag. Also, make 4 equal pieces for the handles of the bag from the main fabric. Cut out 2 similar parts for the bag and 2 for the dublerin handles.
Step 3
Glue the main fabric parts with dublerin. Lay them face down on a flat surface, attach dublerin on top and glue it with a warm iron.
Step 4
Fold the 2 handle pieces right-side up. Sweep along the long sides, leaving short cuts unstitched. Remove the basting, turn the handles to the front side, straighten the seams, iron them with an iron.
Step 5
Bend the top side of the bag parts 1 time to the wrong side at a distance of 3 cm, iron it. Pin the handles to each part at a distance of 5-7 cm from the edges.
Step 6
Fold the lining and the main part of the fabric bag right sides to each other. Sweep along the top edge, grabbing the handles. Sew on the sewing machine, then remove the basting and sewing pins. Press the seam allowance towards the lining and sew.
Step 7
Then fold both parts of the bag with the sewn-on lining right-side up. Baste on all sides and sew on the sewing machine, leaving 20 cm unstitched on the underside of the lining.
Step 8
To add volume to the bag, sew the corners of the underside of the bag at a 45-degree angle on both the body and the lining. To make the bag stronger, lay 2-3 lines.
Step 9
Turn the bag onto the front side through the open hole. Sew the hole in the lining with blind stitches by hand or sew on a sewing machine.
Step 10
Place the lining inside the garment. Straighten all seams and iron them carefully. Stitch along the top edge of the bag at a distance of 0.5 cm.
