Simon's funny cat is known to many mainly for stickers on cars. But you can make a soft toy cat, it will delight both children and adults. And if you make Velcro suction cups on the paws, you can stick it on the glass, including in the car. Some motorists do this, and Simon's cat cheers up not only its owner, but also those around him. It is easy to make a soft toy with Velcro with your own hands.

To make Simon's cat, you need the following tools and materials:

  • paper pattern
  • the cloth
  • synthetic winterizer (or other similar material - holofiber, synthetic winterizer)
  • threads
  • beads or eyes
  • suction cups
  • scissors
  • pins
  • pen, felt-tip pen or marker

The pattern of the cat can be downloaded from the Internet, the drawing is on many sites. You can draw your own, then the toy will turn out to be original, unique.

The pattern must be printed on a sheet of A3, A4 or A5 format, depending on the desired size of the cat. And you can make a whole family of felines by sewing toys of different sizes.

Any fabric is suitable as material for making Simon's cat, but the best option is fleece. Firstly, it is soft and pleasant to the touch, and secondly, the cut edges of the fleece do not unfold, they do not have to be folded, and the margin should be left only a couple of millimeters.

Any color will do. Usually, a plain fabric is taken, especially if you plan to make an inscription on the tummy. But you can craft Simon's tiger or leopard using striped or spotted material. These toys will look twice as attractive.

The pattern should be pinned to the fabric with pins so that it does not move, and circle around it with a felt-tip pen. Two parts of the cat - front and back, are made according to the same template.

You can remove the paper and pins and start joining the two pieces together.

Usually, the halves of the body, as well as the tail and eyes, are cut out, connected and stitched first. But you can go not quite the standard way - first sew the little body, and then cut it out.

When cutting, you need to leave a small amount of fabric. If it is fleece, then about 5 mm.

At the junction of the legs with the body, as well as between the ears and toes (i.e., in the places of sharp corners), the supply of fabric must be cut to the seam. This is done to avoid ugly constrictions.

When stitching, you do not need to leave holes for turning out; for this, special cuts will be made.

So, when the two halves are cut and sewn, you need to determine the places where the eyes and tail will be. Here the fabric is cut in a straight line. A hole is also cut on the tail. Now the workpiece can be turned out and filled with padding polyester or other selected material.

You can use a pencil to fill in the ears and feet. The toy should be stuffed quite tightly. After filling, the incisions are sewn up with a blind seam.

Now you can sew on the eyes. Usually made from white fabric. The prepared circles are attached to the muzzle with pins. Sew on over the edge. You need to put a little filler inside.

Black beads or eyes for dolls can be used as pupils. The latter are glued with a glue gun.

The tail is sewn to the body by the place where the sewn-in hole for stuffing is located. Blind seam is used.

The muzzle of Simon's cat is usually made from thread. Woolen or floss are best. But you can make a spout and a mouth from felt or other material and glue it with a glue gun or on the Moment glue.

If you choose the option of a muzzle made of threads, you should first outline the sketch with pins. Now it just remains to connect the dots.

The eyes are usually sewn with a “back needle” seam with black thread.

You can give a cat a different facial expression - make him smile or frown.

This completes the process, or you can add some details. For example, suckers.

Suction cups are purchased at craft stores, or taken from any item - from a soap dish, or other toys.

Small cuts are made on the legs. The suction cups must be firmly inserted. Then the Velcro is simply sewn on with a needle and thread.

If you plan to give Simon's cat for a holiday, you can add the appropriate accessories to him. For example, a New Year's toy - to sew a red cap, write a congratulation or a joke. As personal belongings, bells are often sewn, indicating that the cat is male.
