There are different ways to sew a welt pocket, depending on the garment model. One of them involves three details of the cut: the burlap itself, the leaflet (the protruding part in the form of a valve) and the valance (it closes the lining from the eyes). Usually, this is how the pockets of men's jackets are made, sometimes - trousers, jackets, coats and raincoats. Traditionally, the slots are located along a horizontal line or slightly obliquely.
It is necessary

Instructions
Step 1
Place the piece face up on the table and mark the position of the pocket with a pointed remnant or tailor's chalk. For convenience, use a transparent ruler. Mark the cut line from 8 to 13 cm, depending on the size of the product.
Step 2
It is recommended to make two cardboard templates - leaflets and valances. Attach them to the "face" of the fabric and trace over the top. The entrance to the pocket will look like this: on one side of the leaf (its outer part will look 2 cm high), on the other - a valance (it will close the burlap of the pocket from the eyes).
Step 3
Step back from the line of entry into the pocket 1 cm up and down and mark at this distance the lines for stitching the leaflet and the valance.
Step 4
Cut out the details of the pocket. The width of the gap and leaves is equal to the length of the future cut (for example, 13 cm) plus seam allowances (here: 7x16 cm, taking into account the fold in half). Pick up the size of the burlap individually.
Step 5
So that after the cut the edges of the canvas do not crumble, pre-strengthen the seamy side of the product with adhesive interlining. Make an oval piece for this.
Step 6
Paste over the pieces of paper as well. At the same time, place the share line of the lining fabric perpendicular to the vertical edge of the main fabric - this way the adhesive material will not stretch during operation.
Step 7
Fold the leaf in half with the right side up and iron the fold line. Overcast the edges of the part by hand or on an overlock. Treat the valance in the same way.
Step 8
Place the finished cut details (except for burlap) "face to face" on the garment, align the upper edges with the entrance to the pocket.
Step 9
Stitch the details along the marked lines (see step number 3) and proceed to the most important business - the slot in the pocket. Do it from the wrong side.
Step 10
Stop the scissors at a distance of 1 cm to the end of the line; here, make cuts obliquely towards the corners. Do not bring the cut to the line a little (1-1.5 mm) - otherwise the threads may be damaged.
Step 11
Turn out the details of the pocket to the wrong side, while fold the leaflet to a height of 2 cm and sweep.
Step 12
Overcast the edges of the burlap and sew one edge to the leaf along the line of its stitching. Unscrew the burlap and stitch the front pocket to secure the details.
Step 13
Sew the second part of the burlap to the free edge of the gap. Fasten the corners that were made when cutting the entrance to the pocket (see step number 9) with several stitches from the seamy side of the work.
Step 14
Sew the two pieces of the bag together, overcast the edges and iron all the connecting seams. You just have to straighten the product with the finished pocket on the table and secure the opposite ends of the leaflet with machine stitching.
