It is necessary
- Centimeter, needles, thread, sewing scissors, thimble, tailor's chalk, pencil, pins, iron, ironing board, ironing pad,
- sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Pick up educational literature. The book or manual should contain the necessary minimum about the sewing process: options for seams and their application in practice, how to take measurements correctly, how to draw a pattern and cut it out, how to process and sew fabrics.
Step 2
Prepare all the necessary tools for creating clothes and your workplace. It is better if you have a separate sewing table with a smooth surface, large enough to draw a pattern, cut out the fabric, leave an unfinished product for a while. The work area must be clean and well lit. It is important to sit comfortably, the light was directed to the product from the left, the distance from the eyes to the product should be 30-40cm. It is advisable to use a support for the legs.
Step 3
Check that the sewing machine is ready for use. It must be cleaned, check the installation of the needle, correct threading. At the end of the work, the machine is also cleaned of dust, lint, wiped, lubricated with machine oil.
Step 4
Carefully study the rules for taking measurements, building patterns. Start by sewing easy-to-design things. At first, you can use ready-made patterns, this will reduce the risk of error.
Step 5
Become familiar with the treatment of the garment before you start sewing. Explore the types of stitches, try using them on a dummy, try different options. If you come across unfamiliar stitches in the future, reproduce them on a separate piece of fabric. This way you will not ruin the fabric of the product.
Step 6
Choose a fabric. In this matter, it all depends on the purpose of the clothes. Silk, wool, knitwear, velvet, shiny fabrics, brocade are good for a festive dress. Apply trim with lace, ribbons, braid, embroidery, fur, leather. Home clothes are sewn from cotton, flax, semi-woolen fabrics. The main thing here is practicality. In an office style, you should avoid shiny fabrics, brocade, preferring dense, well-retaining fabrics and knits.
Step 7
Start sewing directly when you learn how to cut the fabric and sew the basic types of seams. Start with simple products, progressing to complex ones as you gain experience.
