How to make foil flowers with your own hands: a method for beginners
This foil craft is perfect for beginners. Making foil flowers will be a rewarding experience for those who have not yet worked with this material.
To create flowers with your own hands, prepare the following materials:
- one roll of food foil;
- thin wire from 25 to 30 centimeters long;
- scissors.
Cut food foil strips 3 to 4 centimeters thick. Add each one. Squeeze the strip and make a tourniquet out of it. Twist the rest on one of the strips. The volume of your flower will depend on the number of twisted flagella.
After creating 4-5 petals, join them together with a strip of foil. Secure the resulting flower with a thin wire that will serve as a stem. Wrap foil around the wire.
If you wish, you can make the leaves to match the flower. They are made in the same way as petals. Your first foil flower is ready!
DIY foil flowers: a complicated technique
To make flowers you will need:
- scotch tape (silver or regular);
- thin foil;
- scissors;
- stick, rod or tube for the stem.
Before you start making flowers with your own hands, you need to choose the right base material. You can find different foils in stores, but a delicate and neat craft will only come from thin ones. For example, baking foil, although it is more durable, will not work for these colors.
After the necessary material has been prepared, you can already get to work. First, cut strips 3 centimeters wide from foil. It is not at all necessary that they look very neat, as the technique allows for some carelessness.
The future flower will resemble a lily. To make it, you need 3 petal parts. Each of them should take 9 strips of foil. There are 27 strips in total.
The next step is to turn them into wires. First, fold the strip along its entire length. After that, gently twist it between your fingers, as if you were spinning a thread. In this case, the foil will roll into a well-bendable and dense "lace". From these blanks, you will need to create flowers. That is why this handicraft technique is called foil weaving.
From the resulting nine parts, collect the flower petal. To do this, bend 8 wires in half, and bend one with a "nose" in the form of a small protrusion in the center. Then start stringing 4 bent wires on both sides of the "nose".
To complete the creation of the petal, clamp all the wires so that they are fixed to the main one. After that, collect the edges into a bundle and wrap it with the ends of the part on which you strung the rest. So, one petal is already ready.
Make 2 more petals, and then roll the foil into stamens in the same way, creating tight curves at the ends. Fix all the parts obtained on the rod with adhesive tape. Wrap the stem with foil. That's all, now you can admire the created beauty!
