For some listeners, a girl who sings rock songs is still something exotic. Rock groups with female vocals were still in the USSR, and their number in Russia continues to grow.
History of female rock vocals in the USSR
In the USSR, rock music appeared in the sixties. Even through the "Iron Curtain" love for the group "The Beatles" leaked to the Soviet youth. From that moment on, officially allowed vocal instrumental ensembles and illegal groups began to be created. In the first case, young people received a diploma of higher or secondary musical education and got a job as musicians. The music in this case was censored. In the case of amateur music activities, the group members had to work somewhere else so as not to be parasites, and the receipt of income from concerts for illegal groups was prohibited.
The first successful vocalist in a rock group in the USSR was Zhanna Aguzarova, who sang in a group called "Bravo". Yvonne Anders, as she called herself, joined the band in 1983. Twenty years passed before the first rock group with female vocals appeared after the spread of rock in the USSR. The group composed songs in the styles of rockabilly and new wave. Zhanna forged her passport, and for this crime she was under investigation.
In the eighties, besides Zhanna Aguzarova, only a few women were known who sang rock. In the same decade, another bright vocalist appeared, whose name was Anastasia Poleva. She created a group called "Nastya". The team was formed in Yekaterinburg. The group's creativity belongs to the first wave of Ural rock.
