It is necessary

  • - the cloth;
  • - tape measure;
  • - threads;
  • - needles;
  • - safety pins;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - scissors;
  • - Velcro-Velcro or curtain tape.

Instructions

Step 1

Lambrequin can be decorated with free and bow folds. In both cases, you will need a piece of fabric of the desired length and width equal to the width of the curtain rod times three. All work should be done on a level and large surface such as a table or floor.

Step 2

Cut off the required number of strips of fabric and sew on the sewing machine. If you are making a lambrequin from fabric with a pattern, then the pattern will need to be combined.

Step 3

Fold over the bottom edge 2 times 5 centimeters. Sweep by hand, iron and stitch.

Step 4

Next, fold up the side cuts, iron and machine stitch. Measure the length of the lambrequin from the bottom edge, iron it. Cut off excess fabric. Pin the folded edge with pins.

Step 5

Calculate the size of the folds. To do this, subtract the width of the finished lambrequin from the total length of the fabric, divide the difference by the desired number of folds. Make their size and the intervals between them as you wish.

Step 6

Fold the pleats to one side or towards each other (if you want to make bow pleats). Pin them together with safety pins. Sweep for greater reliability. Measure the width of the lambrequin again and compare it with the size of the curtain rod.

Step 7

On the upper edge of the lambrequin, pin the Velcro-Velcro from the seamy side of the fabric. Baste and machine stitch the top edge first and then the bottom edge. Remove basting and pins. Iron the pelmet.

Step 8

Glue the second half of the Velcro to the cornice with a hot gun and attach a lambrequin to it.

Step 9

If the model of the cornice does not allow you to fix the lambrequin in this way, instead of Velcro, sew a curtain tape (as well as Velcro). Insert the hooks into the eyelets and secure to the eaves.

Step 10

If you need to decorate a wide window, then you can save a little on fabric by making folds only at the corners. In this case, you will need to add an allowance for each fold of no more than 40 cm.
