Hand-made carnival masks bring a special joy. Fairy tale characters come to life right before our eyes. There are a great variety of manufacturing methods, and you can add your own detail to any mask. A lamb mask can come in handy for a Christmas show or New Year's carnival.
It is necessary
- - plasticine;
- - napkins;
- - thick paper;
- - water-based paint;
- - gouache;
- - varnish;
- - linen elastic;
- - glue;
- - pieces of karakul;
- - a picture of a lamb's face.
Instructions
Step 1
A lamb mask can be made in the same way as any other. Find 2 pictures with a lamb - in profile and full face. Sculpt the muzzle out of plasticine. You can limit yourself to the upper half of the mask. The blank may be the simplest. Imagine a ball. Divide it in half, and then one of the halves in half more. The diameter of the sphere is equal to the distance between the temples. Stick the nose to the fragment of the sphere. Blind your nose and ears. Check the proportions in the picture.
Step 2
Pull a few napkins into small pieces and paste over the disc on the side with the nose. You do not need to use glue yet; paper on the plasticine will adhere perfectly anyway. Stick more paper on the first layer, you can use newspaper or other soft paper. It needs to be planted already on paste or PVA. Dry the workpiece after each layer.
Step 3
After pasting 5-7 layers, let the mask dry. Remove the plasticine. In this case, you do not need to cut anything, since the papier-mâché layer is only on one side.
Step 4
Mark the place for the eyes. They are oval in sheep, located horizontally. Cut out the eyes with a sharp knife. A boot knife or cardboard will do. Cover the mask with water-based paint. Outline the eyes with black gouache. Paint the inner parts of the ears pink. Paint the ears white and on the back.
Step 5
Pick up the pieces of karakul. Cut out a small strip and glue it to the lamb's forehead. From two identical strips, make a border for the ears. Karakul can be replaced with any other fur with wavy pile.
Step 6
Attach an elastic band. It should fit snugly around your head, but not squeeze it too tightly. Glue the edges and close the top with self-adhesive paper circles or tape.
Step 7
For a children's costume, you can make not a mask, but a sheep's hat. Sew a helmet with a protruding beak out of white fabric. Cut out large oval ears from white and pink flannel. Sew them, and insert a frame made of cardboard or wire inside. Sew a piece of white astrakhan into the beak and trim the ears with the same fur.
Step 8
A sheep mask can be made from a fairly large felt boot. Cut off the back of the shaft and the heel. You already have a finished muzzle - the front of the foot. Turn the felt boot over so that it is on top. Cut an inconspicuous hole underneath so you can breathe. Mark and cut out the eyes. Decorate the mask with fur pieces. Ears can be made from leftover pieces of felt. The carnival costume will be complemented by a white curly wig.
