Biography

The parents of the future singer moved to France from Tunisia and settled in the Neuilly-sur-Seine commune to the west of Paris, its most expensive and wealthy suburb. Daughter Laura was born on February 26, 1977. The girl began to sing and dance almost before she spoke, and her parents sent her to the private French theater school Cours Florent, with which the girl attended hip-hop music courses.

After graduating from high school, Laura went to the United States, where she studied dance and acting at the New York Broadway Dance Center. Returning home, Laura began to actively engage in creativity. She shot several short films, appeared on the radio, and in 1998 opened her own art school FAME, where she taught children music, dance and acting.

Career

In 2005, Laura Cohen starred in the crime drama "Bad Boys" (Les mauvais joueurs) directed by Frederic Balekjian, and then became one of the DJs on the popular music channel Fun Radio, at the same time playing the role of the host of music programs along with the popular comedian and star Arthur on "Europe 2".

Coxie began writing songs back in the nineties, having recorded several songs in the early 2000s that did not bring her much success.

In 2007, Laura, who had already taken the nickname "Coxy", released the single Garçon. The song was written as a small protest against the sexism and vulgar lyrics that constantly sounded in the compositions of this musical style, especially in the tracks of the famous American rapper Dr. Dre.

Coxie posted her song on her own MySpace page and immediately found herself at the center of a real scandal. The creators of the Skyrock radio show turned a whole company against Coxie, even releasing a parody of her song, but this only spurred listeners' interest in the original composition and in the singer herself. As a result, Garçon topped not only the French charts, but other European charts as well.

The popularity and commercial success of the only song prompted the singer to record a full-length album Koxie, which was released in the same 2007. In 2012, Laura's second compilation titled Le Prince Charmant was released, but it no longer had any commercial success.

In 2014, Laura joined the Virgin Tonic team, Virgin Radio's morning show, as a columnist and animator. Since then, Coxie has not released new songs, but perhaps she will do this in the very near future.

Personal life

Laura never allowed the public to look into her private life, and even in live communication with fans on social media pages and on her own website, she skillfully bypasses this topic. The only thing that is known is that Coxie has a daughter born in 2002, of whom she is very proud.
