A rare viewer can deny himself the pleasure of tickling his nerves a little. And the serial production industry allows you to fully fill your thirst for thrills. Since Twin Peaks, horror series have formed a solid clan of fans, to whose delight the television industry releases product after product every year.
10th place: "Masters of Horror"
Cutting from sharp, stylish and impeccably filmed mysterious stories - this is the author's handwriting of a short, but remembered by many TV series "Masters of Horror". Each episode is a separate complete story, telling about the fate of a monster girl, then about a maniac who conceived murder at a wedding, then about a family of ghouls hunting in the forest.
Unlike most scary TV series, Masters of Horror has a controversial reputation. Not all critics were supportive of the eerie spectacle, and the ratings pumped up a little. Therefore, having existed for two seasons, the project was closed. But this did not stop the "Masters of Horror" from acquiring a small but loyal army of fans.
9th place: "Haven" ("Secrets of Haven")
The atmosphere of the cozy but mysterious city of Haven is in many ways similar to the "picture" of the worlds of Stephen King. It was the works of the recognized king of horrors that formed the basis for the script of the series of the same name.
The first season of Haven does little to justify the genre. Almost everything mysterious and mystical turns into human despair. Even as such, there is no main antagonist in the season.
If you don't scare, then the series makes you tickle your nerves already at the beginning of the second season. The picture is much darker, the characters are much more realistic, and the action takes on a more serious turn.
8th place: "Grimm"
There is nothing wrong with seeing the true essence of people. The main character of the series "Grimm" - the happy owner of the mysterious gift of seeing the so-called creatures, Nick Berdhard would hardly agree with this argument.
The universe of the series is densely saturated with various types of creatures - dangerous and very dangerous. It is the squads of all kinds of pigs, rippers, red-tails and swiftpaws that are most often the most cruel and elusive criminals. Ordinary mortals should be happy that the main character is not only an experienced creature hunter, but also a police officer.
7th place: "Strain"
The famous screenwriter and director Guillermo del Toro managed to prove that the horror genre has a right to exist not only on the big screen - the vampire apocalypse "The Strain" can scare no worse than "Pan's Labyrinth". The untrained viewer will have to prepare for a depressing picture of humanity facing a relentless epidemic of vampirism. Moreover, only a few brave heroes are ready to fight the virus. And if the first season will keep the problem of the virus itself at the center of events until the last, then the second is more focused on human relationships.
6th place: "Under the dome"
The unremarkable town of Chesters Mill is covered with a mysterious dome, impenetrable, invulnerable and, as it turns out later, extremely “vengeful”. What is it - military experiments, devilish intrigues of alien civilizations or retribution for the sins of the inhabitants? With each episode, a terrible secret begins to unfold, and after it all the main characters acquire their true appearance. Despite the famously twisted plot, this series seemed to viewers not so much terrible as protracted, therefore it was closed after three seasons.
5th place: "Scream Queens"
For all the parody of this series and the obvious female bias, there is something to be horrified here. Beautiful outfits and Hollywood landscapes alternate with a banal "dismemberment" in the style of a slasher. Plus to everything - the key intrigue, as if borrowed from the popular movie franchise "Scream", keeps in constant tension until the end of the season. Who is hiding under the killer costume?
4th place: "Hannibal"
The series "Hannibal" organically and chronologically combined all parts of the cinematic franchise of the same name, outlining the whole ins and outs of one of the most sinister antiheroes of our time. Throughout the series, Hannibal continues to embody monstrous gastronomic fantasies, at the same time helping the police to catch their own kind - killer maniacs. At some point, there are so many of them that the scriptwriters radically change the thread of the narrative, leaving only Hannibal in the center. And this is a big plus.
3rd place: "The Walking Dead"
The terrible picture of the apocalypse, capturing hundreds of thousands of fans, continues to acquaint the viewer with a world in which there is a battalion of zombies for every living person. "The Walking Dead" disarmed even the most severe critics, who were forced to admit - this series claims to be cult status.
The picture of the world presents to the viewer the terrifying prospects of human life in a zombie apocalypse. However, the big question is who is the source of the greater horror - the walking dead or the desperate people.
2nd place: "Boulevard Horrors"
In the best traditions of British TV series, "Boulevard Horrors" (also "Scary Tales") presents an amazing picture filled with colorful, believable and already familiar characters.
The lines of fate of Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, Van Helsing and their many friends, enemies and companions crossed in the unfriendly streets of London. They will have to rally in the face of an all-encompassing evil that hunts for the Devil's bride.
1st Place: American Horror Story
American Horror Story is one of the finest examples of a quality horror series. There is everything here - intrigue, a large number of characters and the unsurpassed author's handwriting of the creators.
Each season has its own story and its own set of horror-krishe. The surreal coexists with the mundane. Only in American Horror Story is domestic violence and family tyranny as frightening as vampires and ghosts.
