There are several characteristic features in a person's face that need to be portrayed as accurately as possible in order for the portrait to succeed. Of course, first of all, these are the eyes. But the artist also needs to pay enough attention and skill to the nose, as the most prominent part of the face.
It is necessary
- - pencil;
- - eraser;
- - colour pencils.
Instructions
Step 1
The shape of the nose depends on the nationality, age and gender of the person. This part of the face resembles a prism at its core and this figure consists of four parts. The first part starts from the brow ridges and ends with the beginning of the bridge of the nose, in front it resembles a trapezoid, with a large base up.
Step 2
All other elements, if you look at them directly, resemble a single trapezoid, but with a smaller base up. From the beginning to the middle of the bridge of the nose (or to the hump, if it will be in your drawing), the second part of the nose prism lasts. The third part goes to the end of the bridge of the nose. The most voluminous fourth part of the prism consists of the tip of the nose and the wings (nostrils).
Step 3
Regardless of which nose shape you want to draw, the main prism should remain the same. Make a sketch. It may not turn out perfect, but you will outline the location of all the elements that make up the nose. The pencil lines should be thin so that they can be easily erased, they will not be visible in the final drawing.
Step 4
Mark the construction lines in the sketch. Round the wings of the nose, make their shape more realistic. Their contour should not be in contact with the lines of the tip of the nose. Draw the nostrils and the inside of the wings. Try to perform these steps as carefully as possible, the shape of these elements will remain unchanged.
Step 5
Mark the walls of the nose. Don't make solid lines, it will look unrealistic in the final drawing. A short contour is sufficient, which should not be connected to the wings of the nose and the bridge of the nose. Now you can show the transition from the eyebrow arches to the bridge of the nose with smooth lines. This sketch is the basis of the entire nose, so it must be believable.
Step 6
Now you need to apply shadows. Think about where the light will come from, and how the shadows with highlights will fall. It is undesirable to use clear contours to indicate the walls of the nose and bridge of the nose. Mark the walls of the nose with a darker color along the thin line of your contour. Mark the bridge of the nose in the same way, but with lighter light strokes. Flare should also be present at the tip, and shadows should be present near the nostrils and wings of the nose.
